This small change makes a big different in terms of traffic flow and pool deck ambience.Ī new feature near these pools is the cascading sun deck and upgraded loungers. These pools have been redesigned to maximum lounging space, complete with in-pool loungers. The two main pools are located a bit further aft. Now, Splashaway Bay and the Beach Pool are in the forward area near the waterslides, for a more family-friendly space. The outdoor spaces on decks 15 and 16 have been rearranged. One of the areas that this is perhaps the most evident is the pool deck. The few times we departed the ship in port, the process was quick and efficient.ĮXCLUSIVE SAVINGS: Find the Lowest Prices on Your Next Royal Caribbean Cruise! Pool DeckĮven though Wonder of the Seas is the fifth Oasis-class ship, it has its own unique feel and layout. So, at all ports of call, both aft and forward gangways were available. Lugging our bags down to the Royal Promenade, we moved through ship security, border patrol, and to the share ride area in about 25 minutes. Doing self-checkout, we walked off about 45 minutes after the ship had been cleared. The disembarkation process was even easier. Then, we waited less than 10 minutes before Diamond Crown and Anchor members were called to board the ship. At Terminal 18, we progressed from screening, to security, and check-in smoothly, with the entire process taking around 20 minutes. Thankfully, we were allowed to begin the check-in process right away. We knew this first cruise would be busy, so we decided to head to the port early. Thus, the earliest embarkation time slot available was 1:30 pm. Since we were invited guests of Royal Caribbean on this sailing, we received our cruise reservation rather late. Don't waste your money.Wonder of the Seas Cruise Ship Scorecard Review Embarkation/Disembarkation I don't think manager ever apologized to us. If it was her found sleeping she would of been. She told me before Manager arrived if it was up to her she would refund me. The female clerk was very nice over the weekend. I said we travel to this area yearly and I WILL NOT BE STAYING HERE AGAIN!! I told him if I could of found a room while waiting to get checked in I would of not been staying here.!! He again said He couldn't refund me. I cant do that." I told him internet is bad place to get bad reviews. I asked Are you going to refund a portion or all of our money for putting up with this mess. I asked what he was going to do about our problems. I spoke with mgr again on day of check out Sun May 25th. Said he was going to talk to night clerk when he came in. I had clerk tell me if you are staying multiple days they just do towels and make beds!! We went to speak with manager in the morning. However, Ceiling fan in one bedroom was filthy! They didn't clean shower second day. Then he came out to parking lot with different key for different room. Hair messed and acted groggy.) Told him we were there to check in. Asked what was going on? (He looked like he just woke up. When lights from patrol car shined in one of the room windows, the clerk came out. I finally CALLED 911 and told dispatcher about problem. When we arrived the lobby was DARK! Door was LOCKED!! I tried calling number on reservation twice got answering machine!!! My husband POUNDED on the door for 30 minutes I tried calling area hotels for another place. We arrived late 4:15 AM, after driving for 12 hrs. ( We changed it to checkout on 5/25) Our problem was with check in. We booked a stay at Royal Clipper Inn & Suites in Virginia Beach, Virginia Atlantic Ave Our reservation was from 5/22 - 5/26. For the price, I would certainly stay here again. Only one car per room can park in the lot, but there is free street parking across the street (ask the front desk about it). The location is actually perfect because it's within walking distance to the busiest part of the strip, as well as the popular bars, shops, and restaurants, but far enough away that the beach isn't overly crowded and it's not too loud at night. Not oceanfront, but literally across the street from the beach and boardwalk and right next to so many great restaurants (including Taste, Pocahontas Pancakes, and the Belvedere Coffee Shop!). But our room, linens, and bathroom were clean, and fresh towels and toiletries were provided daily. This obviously isn't a 5-star resort, so don't expect a gigantic room and every amenity. Every staff member I spoke to-including front desk, housekeepers, and maintenance-was incredibly friendly and helpful. The Royal Clipper went above and beyond my expectations, mostly due to the excellent service from the staff.
